Years of experience
Antara began studying Kathak at the age of 5 and has specialized in the Lucknow Gharana, School of Kathak. In addition to founding the Academy, she has taught dance at Cornish College of Arts, Kent State University, and the University of Akron.
With the belief that learning classical Indian Dance is a lifelong pursuit, Antara is devoted to perfection. Her innovative choreography has joined Kathak to seemingly unrelated dance forms such as tap, flamenco, and ballet.
Student oriented lessons
Students receive training from the age of five and progress through upper levels as they develop their skill levels.
The academy is accredited to ISTD (www.istd.org). As students graduate, they are recognized with certification of accomplishment.
Every other year, the school organizes a recital where there is opportunity to collaborate with world class professional musicians, dancers, and instructors. Also there are opportunities of performing in numerous community events throughout the year.

She is a Kathak veteran and has performed in various shows, events and programs for many years. Her goal is to carry on her Guru’s tradition and nurture an interest in the beautiful North-Indian classical dance form of Kathak among kids and adults all around.

My daughter has been taking classes with Antara for 5 years now. Antara is one of the most dedicated , talented and truly inspiring teachers I have come across. From perfecting the techniques of the students, to correcting their abinayas, to supporting them when they fail she is the perfect combination of teacher and mother. Always encouraging them but never accepting anything but their best, practice , practice, practice is her motto which instills in the girls a sense of purpose, commitment and discipline. By giving them new venues to perform, composing new pieces or encouraging them to take the standard exams, she constantly looks to expand the horizon for the school and her students. We are so fortunate and blessed to have Antara as our daughter’ teacher and guide.
Anga Kala Kathak Academy is affiliated to ISTD (Imperial Society for Teachers of Dance)
Students from Anga Kala Kathak Academy can get a formal diploma in Kathak.
